Tin Man by Sarah Winman (#73 in 2020)
The story begins with the friendship between two young boys, Ellis and Michael, but the friendship develops into something much more as the years pass by.
It's difficult for me to review this book without revealing anything that will spoil this remarkable plot. The main character, Ellis, is so changeable and so reflective as he takes the hardship and grief he faces in his present and pulls memories of the past to the forefront to make sense of how he got to where he is. In the process of this story, your heart will shatter, then mend, then repeat the process over and over until the last page.
If you're a lover of stories that span across decades, of stories that explore the depth of human connection, and of stories that drive your emotions down a winding road, Tin Man is for you.
