Jar of Hearts by Jennifer Hillier (#95 in 2019) Georgiana, Kaiser, and Angela were besties in high school. Angela was popular and outgoing... and then she went missing. Georgiana and Kaiser’s lives were forever changed by Angela’s absence. That was how things were until 14 years later when Angela’s remains are found in the woods behind Geo’s house, Geo’s ex boyfriend is suspected of the murder, and Geo is accused of being involved. Now, five years after the trial, the past rushes to meet the present as new bodies are turning up and residents of town wonder who is to blame. Y’all know how I felt about the last thriller I read... so I needed something to de-slump me. Jar of Hearts was good! Geo was a likable character despite the choices of her past, and it was interesting to experience the flashbacks that contributed to the horrible events of “that night.” I have to say that I figured out the “twist” pretty early on, but that’s only because I watch way too much Criminal Minds and Investigation Discovery. I also didn’t mind that I figured it out because it just made me want to read to the end to confirm my own suspicions. Jar of Hearts was a fast and easy read if you’re looking to have another book to fly through before October and spooky month are over. It’s a thriller, for sure, and murderers are pretty spooky so go for it! 3.5/5 stars from me ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫
