Big Summer by Jennifer Weiner (#56 in 2020)
Thank you to @mystery.book.club @bostonbookfanatic and @jordys.book.club for my advanced copy of this newbie!
This book is split into three parts. In part one, we're introduced to Daphne Berg, a social media influencer who has made a career as a plus size model and spokeswoman for body positivity. Daphne is blindsided when Drue, her high school frenemy, reenters her life and asks the one big question: "Will you be my bridesmaid?" Against her better judgement, and in the effort to reconcile issues from the past, Daphne says yes.
Drue's family is beyond wealthy, so I was thoroughly enjoying all of the fancy wedding details and Cape Cod imagery. It starts out with the backstory of why the superficial breakdown between Drue and Daphne didn’t work out, which is gossipy and fun. While I was in the midst of reading part one, I was thinking thinking, "this is cute... kind of Mean Girls-ish... kind of like Bridesmaids..." and then I hit the last page of part one. This was my actual face --> 😱
I was not. Expecting. A MURDER!
And now I can't say anything more.
But read this. 4 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
(sorry not sorry about the book review cliffhanger)
