Beach Read by Emily Henry (#104 in 2020)
January Andrews is in a tough spot. She's a well known romance writer who is stuck in a rut. When she moves to her deceased father's lakefront home that he shared with his mistress, January thinks things can't get any worse... until she realizes that her biggest writing competition from college, Augustus Everett, lives RIGHT. NEXT. DOOR! When they both finally discuss their writers' blocks, they challenge one another to write a book in the style of their neighbor-- January in literary fiction, and Gus in romance. But with two super good looking rivals next door, there's got to be some romantic tension, right?
Every single time I review a romance book, I'm sure to remind everyone that I am NOT a romance reader. I repeat: I am NOT a romance reader... and yet...
I LOVED Beach Read! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫
Why I loved it:
- witty banter between the "unsuspecting couple"
- emotional backstories
- logical progression of a relationship
Why I finally committed to reading it:
- Morgan @paperbacksandpeonies sent me a copy
- @thegrowinglibrary and @blondeswithbooks started a #summersendoffstack challenge to help us get through those last few summer reads before it gets cold
- the cover is pretty
This was the book that helped me meet my goal of 104 books (2 per week) for 2020, and what a perfect read to hit that milestone! And now... I'll just continue reading and see how many books I can hit before December 31st!
🍸Also thanks to @paragontapandtable for this fabulous Cucumber Moscatail- cucumber vodka, blueberry vodka, muddled cucumber, lime juice, lemon juice, & moscato
How many books have you read so far this year?
